Term Two enrolments open on Monday the 27th March, it’ll be another 10 week term with a couple of public holidays thrown in for good measure;

  • ANZAC day on Wednesday 25th April &
  • Queen’s Birthday on Monday 4th June.

We are also running a survey to find out which days and times people prefer to have preschool and Aquatots classes.  Some of our days are getting quite full and we are wondering when would be the best time to put more lessons on.  Feel free to leave your preferences in the comments box below

A huge congratulations to all swimmers who attended the Manawatu Age groups 2012, each and everyone of you swam an awesome race and represented Kiwi West Aquatics amazingly.
Kiwi once again one the Harkness Cup for premier Manawatu club with a score of 582 points with Levin on second on 449 points and in third place was Ice Breakers with 294 points.
We also managed to retain the Norm Still Relay Shield with an absolutely nail biting finish to the Medley Relays. The Kiwi womens 14&Over relay posted an amazing upset win over the Levin womens 14&Over team to just slip in for the win by 0:00.09 splits.
A special congratulations to Holly Marshall and Liam Simpson who on their Age group Cups

Over the school holidays there has been alot going on around the pool;

  • The teaching got a fresh coat of paint, and is looking awesome
  • The main pool heating system was overhauled and is now working better than ever
  • Many children chose to use their school holidays to work hard on their swim skills with private lessons – fantastic progress from all participants – and a big thank you to Janice for her efforts with the swimmers
  • Mini group classes in the final week of the holidays, this was great way for one of our newer instructors to spend some quality time and help a new group of swimmers to develop their skills – well done Jaimee

There have also been alot  going on around the region for our more experienced swimmers;

  • Senior squads went on camp for a week to Stratford
  • Manawatu Opens and Manawatu Age Group competitions were held
  • 21 swimmers qualified to compete at New Zealand level competitions – NZ Age Groups, NZ Juniors and NZ Division II

On a more personal note, January saw the loss of two of our swimming parents,  past and present.  Losing a loved one is never an easy thing, so from everyone here at Nicholls Swim Academy, please know that we are thinking of you and our hearts go out to you.

It is fantastic to see so many children using the holidays as a time to improve their swimming.
For the remainder of the holidays we still spaces available on each day – both morning and afternoon sessions. Call now to make a booking.

The teaching pool has a fresh coat of paint on it and looks amazing, the black lane line will be painted sometime this week so it will be ultra-sharp and ready for Term one swimming.

Senior swimmers are away in Stratford this week for swim camp – twice a day swimming with dry land training everyday  – should set them up well for the Wellington Long Course and Manawatu Age Groups competitions in late January.
